YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER – SARAH HOGLE

**Spoilers Ahead, Read On With Caution**

I’ve waited absolutely ages to get my hands on this, and it finally arrived! With authors like Samantha Young, Christina Lauren, and Sally Thorne reviewing it as golden humour and romantic wit, I knew I needed to read it, and thankfully Piatkus published for the you deserve each otherUK. Plus it has an adorable cover that draws you in!

Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. They never fight. They’re preparing for their lavish wedding that’s three months away. And she is miserably and utterly sick of him. Naomi wants out, but there’s a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare. But with the countdown looming to the wedding that may or may not come to pass, Naomi finds her resolve slipping. Because now that they have nothing to lose, they’re finally being themselves–and having fun with the last person they expect: each other.

I thought that for a debut, this book was fantastically written. Witty with a sharp edge, filled to the brim with cutting jibes and pranks, but heartfelt as soon as you needed a tender moment. With Naomi initially being a ghost within her own life, you can relate to that moment when you discover you’ve lost yourself somewhere, and aren’t sure when or where. Only to discover that your partner is lost too, and still clasping hands with who you used to be and trying to drag her back into the light.

We quickly discover that Nicholas has an atrocious, overbearing and selfish mother who has be nose in every aspect of what he does, and if she doesn’t, she plans to. I found the tension she added to their relationship to be so addictive because I was waiting for Naomi to properly lay into her for highjacking her wedding, and then for Nicholas to grow a pair too.

I LOVED all the pettiness and pranks between the engaged pair, and the lengths they went to to be victorious. Starting with Naomi cutting baby bangs, and then wearing an exe’s old hoodie to Sunday lunch with the Rose’s (Nicholas’s parents) and gripe at Deborah about her “Adult Son” the entire time. However, Nicholas gave as good as he got! The back and forth between the two was so heated, that you absolutely have to root for them, because they’re perfectly insane together.

At the start of the book, we see Nicholas as this high strung, stressed guy who’s a total mummies boy, but we get to unravel and discover that he’s a wicked contender in a prank war, sentimental and spontaneous to boot. He’s a dentist with a sweet tooth, closeted nerd and wild man wannabe are strangely to perfect combination of man. Naomi and Nicholas certainly have the hands full with each other!

If you don’t give this a read, you’re mental.
